DIY Fall Paper Leaf Garland Step by Step Instructions

Using the template and scissors or SVG file and a cutting machine, cut several leaves out of each color cardstock.

Use a colored pencil to draw veins in each leaf. (I tried lots of different colors, and they always looked the best when the pencil was a similar color to the cardstock, but slightly darker or slightly lighter.)

Arrange the leaves in the order you would like them to hang.

Thread your needle without cutting off the spool. Thread each leaf so the needle goes in through the front on one side and out through the back on the other. Slide the pieces down farther on the string to give yourself more room as needed.

Once all the leaves are threaded, slide them as needed to make the spacing even and cut the working thread off the spool. (You can tie knots in each end to hold the last leaf in place if you like, but I didn’t find it necessary. As long as it’s hanging inside, they likely won’t move. )
